Haven’t you heard? Television rules the nation.

Television rules the nation.

From coast to coast a television set in every household.

Televised images beamed from satellites flicker,

Thousands of seconds before our glazed eyes.

TV drama is our drama.

Characters are our friends, family, enemies, lovers,

Life.

We watch our synthetic lives unfold ten minutes at a time.

Soma from reality, an effortless escape.

Commercials feed our unconscious.

Feeds us lies by those who want their wallets fed.

Love, wealth, pleasure, beauty.

Happiness can be bought for just $19.95

Buy Buy BUY $$$BUY$$$

Sunsets are replaced by flat screens.

Hiking shoes replaced by slippers.

Family dinners replaced by TV trays.

Humanity replaced by circuitry.

Saturday morning cartoons are our babysitters.

A flickering screen is our lullaby.

Bodies blimp and brains decay.

Actors are but puppets from a studio in Hollywood.

We are but puppets from our couches.

Why should we do anything when we have all we need right in our living rooms?

Haven’t you heard?

Television rules the nation.
