The reality of this society, where the rich become richer and the poor is left unfed.

TEMPLES OF GOLD AND HOUSES OF CLAY

Poor man’s home is made up of clay,

But the temples are studded with diamond and gold,

The misfortunate only live in cages,

No room to stretch, they can sleep only coiled,

Conditions have been miserable for ages,

Their dreams were being purposely spoiled.

Even today there are enough fools,

Whose interest is on temples and not on schools,

When I venture to unveil the truth,

They declare me an atheist,

I would like to serve my people,

Not disguised as a reverend priest.

Unfortunately that is a fact of life no matter how much we dislike it, but we must do what we can do to help the poor. A very good post.

Wonderful Poem! But I think this issue is more of political (the rich getting richer and the poor, poorer) than religious.

It is a temple in a place called Vellore, in South India. The walls, roof, pillars are covered with tonnes of GOLD. Moreover, the visitors through gold coins into the pond in the temple….

Hmmm.. I wish these money was used to eradicate poverty in this part.

    I like this part
“Even today there are enough fools,
Whose interest is on temples and not on schools,”

It’s common even in my country.
