A short review of the first, and last, season.

This charming crime drama generally delivers in terms of gripping story lines and genuine relationships. These character relationships are definitely the highlight of the show, in particular the chemistry shared between Hank (Donal Logue) and Britt (Michael Raymond-James). The pair bounce off each other to such an extent that it feels as if we’re watching the results of a lifelong friendship.

Character depth is not something that this show is short of, for example Hank’s sister (in real life also) Stephanie (Karina Logue) is intelligent, funny and, most importantly, intriguing. She often provides dark comic relief when necessary but also purpose. Each individual character, however seemingly insignificant, brings something meaningful to Terriers in a way that is both subtle and memorable.

However the show does have its downfalls. The story seems somewhat unlikely and whilst I know this is often the case it is hard to believe that any right minded person would hire these self proclaimed private detectives and entrust them with their money and more. Some character decisions also seem questionable, for instance there is a point in which Britt seemingly forgives Hank a bit too quickly in my opinion.

In general, Terriers is a really good show supported by consistently brilliant performances and chemistry between characters and it’s a shame that it won’t be back for another season.
