Next week I reluctantly will work together again with my colleague who like to criticize others. This friend of mine always bad mouth to others. Sometimes I feel so tired even only to listen to her. This poem I write to prepare my heart. I must guard my heart with all vigilance, for from my heart it flows the spring of my life.

Thank You For Unpleasant Things

Thank you for laughing at me,
for it makes me realizing my weakness

Thank you for judging me,
for then I try to improve myself.

Thank you for blemishing me
for then I try to change my fault.

Thank you for disappointing me,
Without it I will not try to understand others

Thank you for reminding me all my weakness,
For it make me closer to my God

Thank you for thinking that I will fail to do a thing
For it make me learn something new

Thank you for your teasing allusions,
The truth I never really care of them.

For I will not be able to change you,
I change myself

Constructive critism (critique) is sometimes good but your colleagues are criticizers, haters. They are not trying to help you.

It is hard to deal with hyper-critical co-workers. But you’ve got it right: you can’t change them. You can only change yourself.

Your attitude is the right one Eunice. Negative people are so difficult to deal with. Well written poem.

We should avoid negative people if we can. If we can’t avoid them we can always turn a deaf ear.Well said.

  • Kim Buck on Mar 23, 2009

Unfortunately, negative people help to keep the balance. Best to avoid them when we can.
