The time of year each year that we all add unwanted weight.

Thanksgiving 2008 has come and gone, and about five pounds i’ve gained,
it’s the same sad story year after year, no one else can i blame.
The turkey and ham with all the trimmings, pies and cakes galore,
there seems to be food everywhere, and i’m eating a whole lot more.
It’s hard to keep from eating so much, everything looks and smells so good,
i know that i should stop at just one plate, only if i could.
Now the Christmas holiday is on us, another big meal for me to eat,
by the time the month is over, i’ll be two inches wider across my seat.
Now i’m searching the closet for some bigger clothes to wear,
convincing myself that spring is still far off, with plenty of time to spare.
A couple of months of dieting and exercise, will get me fit for spring,
i’ll be sweating on that treadmill for the weight loss it will bring.
My bigger clothes will be stored in the closet once more, as the inches start
to melt away,
until i begin stuffing my face again next year, on Thanksgiving day.

Thanksgiving will do it to us every year. We never learn not to pig out on all the good food on the table.
