A poem about this traditional American holiday.
Giving thanks for all we have, surrounded by friends and loved ones
This day of gathering is a special day, and each November it comes.
With roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, and other special treats
We fill our bellies and our souls, and tend to overeat.
Our families pray before the meal, and give thanks for all the joy
That our children bring to us each year, each girl and every boy.
Traditional family recipes, passed from each generation to share,
Cranberry sauce, and yams and more, enjoyed by all who are there.
This year I thank the Lord above, for all that’s been given to me
But mostly I say grace in my heart, to live in the land of the free.
