A poem reflecting back on abuse.
It was that day,
In a dark basement,
Caught and overpowered,
I never told anyone,
I was only seven years of age,
I lost trust in the world,
Trust in people too,
With snakes,
I was threatened,
Had to pay,
To prevent further abuse,
No voice to say no,
No voice to cry for help,
No voice to speak up,
Alone and cold,
Memories remind me,
Of scars inflicted upon me,
To this day,
I cry,
I get torn apart,
By the actions,
I realize,
That day changed my life,
Forever.
