An elegy for Antigone.
Antigone, with your brave heart
And that flame that kept you going
That call from Gods to go against
The action that brought confusion
As the townspeople mourn for the recently deceased
You will be the one that is etched in their minds
Oh, Antigone Oh, Antigone
What gave you the power to do thee?
Is it the passion for one’s beloved?
Or is it the obediance of your mind’s consent?
It has to be a strong will
As the city remembers you forever
That dreaded rope that took it’s owner’s life
Creon who sends the innocent to damnation
The spirit and the righteous spurts that you made?
It is the final judgement of the day’s end
Now, Creon has suffered
Now, you are no more
Now, the selfish king’s son is dead
Now, so is the selfish king’s wife
Oh what sorrow you bring to our hearts
But oh what inspiration you sprinkle upon us
The elders will always remember that day
When dear Antigone gave her life for love
