Those That Serve (Poem)
You put on that uniform to represent your country/And inside you was your American pride/You went into places/That some are still not brave to go/You have seen friends die and survive/By the side of the road.
Still like those before you/You continue to march on/Because that’s the good soldier’s within you/Even when some protest/Your American rights says you can protest/Against them too/Because many won’t ever walk in your shoes.
You defend nations/That most likely/Don’t support America’s view/Or probably wants to fight along with you/But you a product/Of the red, white and blue/A grateful nation/Filled with peoples/Who have the highest regards for you.
Wars are never won/Because you lost a friend somewhere/But you can find solutions and logic/To make many leaders see/Why the United States will always be free?
Because when our soldiers hurt/As a nation we all kind of bleed/Because they fought/With respect and honor/And left some good memories/ That many citizens don’t see/That they are more than humans/With a rank on their sleeves.
They are a fraternity of soldiers/From different units/But united in the fight/To protect all Americans rights
