This poem depicts the irony of Christmas. But Jesus saves us from this irony to make us truly happy.

A time for gifts and gaiety

bustling people in buying spree

tinker bells and swirling lights

blaring carols and trumpet blasts

Far from right intentions

a joyous season yet full of tensions

hidden rancor, spiteful ambition

unforgiving hearts beyond reconciliation

Behind the merriment each yuletide brings

forebodes gloom, anger and pain

shackled in riches, manacled in fame

man’s yearn for freedom suffers in chains

In a manger a newborn child lays

His life is made ransom for all those astray

In sins we are bound, with death we shall pay

Jesus has come, at last we are free!
