Maggie has worked at the truck stop cafe for over 20 years and heard alot. She has heard stories that are unbelievable and as tall as the Empire State Building. If you want to believe them, thats up to you if they are real or not.But if you were smart, you would just laugh along with the truckers and not believe a word of it.

The All Night Truck Stop Cafe

***

In the all night truck stop cafe,

am assortment of truckers meet.

Some want breakfast or coffee,

others order lunch or even dinner.

***

Loud talk that isn’t nice is heard,

its good that Maggie’s heard it all.

They smoke and tell their stories,

its up to you if you believe them.

***

Old Joe has drove for forty years,

the stories he has is unbelievable.

Joe says an orb followed him here,

it disappeared when he hit the cafe.

****

Matt laughs and says I can do one better,

he had a run in with an alien one time.

It was gray with big green glowing eyes,

Old Joe laughs and says in your dreams.

***

Brenda is one of the few female truckers,

she says an angel saved her life last night.

Says she accidentally fell asleep at the wheel,

A winged angel woke her up just in time.

***

Randy Hawkins is new truck driver we know,

but swears a vampire bat had him running.

It turns into Count Dracula in my old truck,

it was a good thing the sun was coming up.

****

Tim has been a trucker for years like Joe,

he says he was in New York one morning.

In the port sat the now fabled ship Titanic,

he was sure he saw it as a lack of sleep.

****

One older quieter trucker spoke up then,

telling us to not ever go to into the woods.

He parked his truck to get some decent rest,

he woke up with a giant spider on his truck.

****

Each trucker tells his her own story at the cafe,

but you have to wonder what is fact or fiction.

Maggie just smiles and collects tips and dishes,

knowing that all of them will be back before long.

****

They will tell fresh stories hoping they are believed,

consuming huge amounts of food and telling tales.

If you are a visitor just wanting a rest and a lunch,

it would be in your best interest to not believe them.

clever! To tell a story through a poem, i liked it as it was a different way to tell a story!

The stories sound like fun and they get everyone talking so there is no harm in them. A nicely told story.

    Good Story Roxanne
Its amazing the characters and stories are created in places like this. You descriptions are good and a more of a feature length could be created from this.

    Best Wishes

Great story, Payge. I really liked how you wrote it in poetry form. It had such an easy flow to it. I really enjoyed it. I could picture all of the truck drivers telling their stories in my head.
