"Superman is the American Dream. Batman is the American Truth." -Bryan Edward Hill.

Those trying to control their little worlds are the schemers.

Those who live without divine plans are the dreamers.

Nobody panics when everything goes according to plan,

even if the plan means the self-destruction of man.

Keep drilling for oil and keep cutting down trees.

We know what we’re doing, but no one really sees.

A gangbanger gets shot or more soldiers blow up

and not much more than a few reporters show up.

Then terrorists attack and we all lose our mind.

It’s a fragile structure as the basis of mankind

with each law, commandment, ritual, and border.

Introduce a little anarchy.  Upset the established order.

But there might be enough people ready to believe in good

and sometimes the truth simply can’t be understood.

With more death and debt and hard times still in store,

the truth isn’t good enough when people deserve more.

This is the home of the brave and the land of the free

where you can always believe all the news that you see.

It’s where your vote counts and the police are on your team.

Lies are the foundation of the American Dream

I like it. I like how you just lay your opinions out there. More people need to do that.

“Lies are the foundation of the American Dream”.
And you claim not to be anti-American Vincent [he acts like he's being called anti-American for "criticizing" America if he gets called that based on his anti-American rants, as seen from his response to me in the comment section of his anti-American article "Smothered by The Flag]?

Thank you for reading so much of my material, Benyamin. I appreciate it, even if you feel proud of yourself for bashing me. Let me guess. You hate Obama. He’s the President, Benyamin. He’s the President of the United States. If you hate him, doesn’t that make you anti-American? Like it or not, there are liberal actions being taken in this country by patriotic members of Congress. You disagree with those ideas. Does that mean you hate America?

  • Tron Catalano on Dec 9, 2009

And yes. Lies are the foundation of the American dream. I’d rather they weren’t, because I like America and I want what’s best for it.

Me being opposed to Obama and to the “patriotic” [really Socialist] decisions by the Democrat members of congress doesn’t make me anti-American. You mix anti-Americianism with legitimate criticism of America. America is a free democracy. A healthy democracy requires critics of government policy. Legitimate criticism is very different from saying, “Lies are the foundation of the American dream”. That statement is anti-American. I’m just a critic of Obama and his policies.
Most Americans oppose Obama and the “patriotic” decisions made by the Democrat congress. Look at the polls. This is the year when Pelosi, Reid and all those other Democrat fellows will be voted out. I don\’t bash you. I simply take what you say and explain how it\’s anti-American from an analytical point of view.

Lies aren’t the foundation of the American dream. That is anti-American propaganda. If you do wish it wasn’t, then your wish was always true.

Benyamin, I’m going to explain the way I see America. It’s not run by the people or the government. It’s run by corporations. Corporations run everything. It seems to me that the conservative perspective doesn’t aknowledge corporations as a third entity. They seem to only aknowledge 1) the people and 2) the government. They tend to blame the GOVERNMENT for trying to control THE PEOPLE. In reality, it is THE PEOPLE who want the GOVERNMENT to keep some reign over the CORPORATIONS. Unfortunately, the corporations control the government. Corporations are a third entity in this country and they are the ones truly in power. They are the ones responsible for the lies. They have knocked down the freedoms we once valued and on which we built this country. That was the American Dream. They’ve replaced freedom with the illusion of freedom. Therefore, lies are now the foundation of the American Dream.

Don’t exaggerate the power of corporations, as many leftists have the habit of doing. You accuse Conservatives of blaming everything on the government; yet leftists blame everything on corporations as if they’re a monolith. Corporations are in competition with each other. It’s not corporations that taxes people or makes the laws. It’s the GOVERNMENT that does that. And no, lies aren’t the foundation of the American dream.

  • Tron Catalano on Mar 24, 2010

    But Benyamin…

There are lobbyists. The corporations can practically pay the government to make laws protecting them or to simply ignore the laws they are breaking. It’s unfortunate, and it is definitely a flaw in both Democrats AND Republicans for giving in to this crap, but it’s true. Corporations have too much power, even if it is indirect. The only way to stop this kind of corruption is to get people into the government who stand true to their ideals even when faced with these decisions. This does happen sometimes, but it seems to me that it happens more often with Democrats.

Just because corporations compete with each other doesn’t mean they don’t have power. Once one falls, another rises to do the same thing. I’m not against competition and I’m not against capitalism. I’m against favoring the interest of corporations over the interest of people.
