There’s a battle raging now,
And going on and on …..
Poem:
There’s a battle raging now,
And going on and on;
“T is a woman’s rightful battle
That must be fought and won.
No doubt, her passion to correct
Our world of ills and wrongs
Deserves the recognition that
She be where she, indeed, belongs
Within the ranks of human skill
Where she excels and can
Compete with fervor equal to
Or better than a man.
How often had she once excelled,
Yet counted out and left
Cold in the blizzard of despair,
Frostbitten and bereft.
With many of her deeds undone
By man’s injustice crude,
Exempting her to hold control,
Except that of her brood.
Centuries of old taboos
And fetishes of man
Till now sustains his arrogance
And egotistic plan
To force her and keep her beneath
His status to uphold
Traditions strange to this new age –
An age not just of gold,
Nor money, nor his male prestige,
But one where he and she
Together build a solid front
For every soul that’s free,
Until the ills of ages past
Turn to beacons of
Equality and justice in
The myriad fields of love!
