For a friend…
The Beacons of the Kingdom of Heaven
Once upon a night several years ago,
I needed light,
To see, guide and burn bright.
Through the Sacrament of Confirmation,
A spark was found,
I set off at a run like a Greyhound.

No one can run forever,
No flame will keep aflare,
Without some tender, love and care.
Inevitably it died down,
To just the odd ember,
Blown on when I remember.
But at the Easter Vigil Mass,
Many sparks gathered for a friend,
Which brought for me the embers to an end.
A rush of passion rose up,
Hot and fiery,
Within my body a miniature priory.
Throughout the Kingdom of Heaven,
Beacons are continue to be lit,
Forever shall they burn, crackle and spit.
