I see you growing amongst the unkempt yard
Only today I saw your kind for the first time
Distant relation or close unknown
I’ll always remember you as
The first plant I found with my little brother
A timeless spectre that will forever remind me
Of this day.
I wonder where you come from
And if somewhere you sustain the forest creatures
Or if you are a symbol for a far flung people
That see you as a part of them.
Do those inside the house regard you as I do?
Bean tree from other land
Symbol of relation restored
And hope that the endless spin of yesterday
No longer denotes tomorrow
When we all create our own destiny
And we choose the who, where and when
We let in those
To the hidden place
Where love can exist without convention
Or expectation.
