A Poetic Tribute to Roman Satirist, Juvenal known for his "bitter and rhetorical denunciation of Roman Society" (encyclopedia.com/topic/juvenal)

Hail, kindred spirit. Persephone grant thee leave. What you failed to conquer in life, your spirit will achieve.

I sensed your ancient presence, but I called it a slump, groping in darkness, dreading every bump.

I cried tears of defeat, helpless as any child; Lo and behold, I’ve awakened the bitter Juvenal.

Armed with pen and pad, most nobel of swords; I swore to avenge thee, except vengence is the Lords.

I chose instead to honor thee, to put your soul at rest. Death is but slumber and life the test.

When I felt myself failing, your spirit was there; transcending time, defying air.

Your soul could not cross, perhaps you are still bitter, or maybe through me your soul can cross the river.

Rest assured you did not fail or suffer defeat; may my written words comfort you until we finally meet.

You cannot claim failure for that would be a crime, I am your second change, how wondrous is time.

Farewell kindred spirt, thank you and good night, forsake the darkness and follow the light.

For all thing pass, my bitter Juvenal; conquered simply with a smile.
