A poem I wrote.

the boy rode up the road
and was stopped by a man of law
he said, “you should be a prisoner here
the boy said,” I have already been before”
they talked of politics and religion
of society
of what jesus actually said
and of wicked irony
and the man said, “you are different”
and the boy said, “so are you”.
and as he turned to leave him he said,
it’s not my fault god hates fags, scallops and jews”
and the man said, “ah a fag, run away and die,
i am being me and its an eye for an eye”

so the boy rode home and found himself crying thru the dawn
and every stop along the way he drowned in deep and burning scorn
and when he reached his destination he had no hope left to live
his only crime was romance, the one and only natural sin
so he went up to his room and locked the door and closed the shades
and sat down on his bed with his hands in his face
and he thought, “noone will miss me,
noone would care
i’m a poor and intolerable, insignificant fag”

and they found his body the next morning in a closet at 6 a.m
and the bullies were all speechless and the media began
to start a hurrricane of blame around what never should have been
if they did it to begin with maybe he could have lived
after all what is a life?
after all what is love?
who are YOU to define it?
who are you to deny it?

and another dusty statistic forgotten and filed away
put the next case on record and hit re-play
i guess it’s no longer in style to be yourself, today
not as long as your around homophobic dismal displays
of cruelty toward man and hate towards weaker prey

and so there is a gravestone in a cemetery with flowers in a vase
and around it there are mourners dressed in black, silk and lace
what creed do you live by to automatically base
a human by there sexual preference?
now imagine the funeral, the mother and the father
imagine how one must sell there soul to even consider a lawyer
and true evil laughs and even satan has nothing on it
bells ring in the wind and the question remains unanswered:
can justice be done when the crime is being yourself?
