Every childs dream…….
I remember it so well, when I was just seven,
Our trip to the cake shop, any childs heaven,
I would gaze through the window at all the treats,
I could see chocolate, cream and cakes with sweets.
You did your shopping and finished off paying,
And usually if I was good which went without saying,
We would go inside and sit for a while,
“Well go on choose which one” You would say with a smile.
I looked at them all with eyes open wide,
Buns, Doughnuts, fairy cakes, I could not decide.
But right at the back a huge chocolate bun,
And you laughed at the mess, when it melted by the sun.
That cake shop is still there, just a different name,
But they still bake the cakes just the same.
But now I take my daughter as you once took me,
And after my shopping, she gazes through the window…..which one will it be.
