Just a calender but it held so many memories
She stands deep in thought looking at the old years calander on the wall
Looking at the words she had written to mark the upcoming events of the year
The wedding of a friend,so many memories of summer winter and fall
Memories of friends and family held so do near.
Althought it is time to discard the old calander
Althought she has a new one ready to take its place
It is blank and has no life no memories for her
Wipes her eyes with an handkercheif trimmed with lace.
As she reads the memos and notes on the pages and revisits the year gone by
knowing that it was a momentous one indeed with so much to remember
Reading the pages thinking how the year did fly.
January became february and then came july and with a leapt suddenly it was december
Reaching out she takes it from the wall and places it nearby
and places the new one up in its place, soo empty so bare
not knowing what will be this year and she knows why
the one she loves will not be here.
He lost his fight and breathed his last that december morn
so many years of full calanders there had been
and not once had she paused as she had this dawn
she smiled as she put the old year away
and then with a pen she wrote carefully
This is the day to start to try and live this is the day.
Untill my love and I can be together not just in dreams but fully
