This poem was actually inspired by a dream I had a while ago.

The lion chases them
The younger and the older
The younger ahead, the older behind
The lion catching up
The younger cries for help
From above, a ladder descends
The younger climbs to the top
The older still running
The lion, still chasing
The lion almost catching the older
The younger pleads for help
The lion diverted, the older still down
“Climb up,” to the older the younger calls,
“No, you come down for me,” the older answers
The younger tempted to go down, again
A voice whispers, “Down you cannot
Up she must follow.”
