A poem about rising up, moving on and facing the challenge of a new beginning.

The valley of depression

has finally come to an end,

leaving no other way

but up -

unless you wallow

in that place of desolation.

But why linger there?

All around you are hills

With lush pastures of golden opportunities -

new, unlimited and ripe -

beckoning to you,

daring you to scale their heights

that promise

unending adventures

and lifetime wonders.

So lay down every sorrow and pain,

gather your strength and courage,

fill your heart with hope,

and rise up to the challenge.

One step at a time,

savoring each precious moment

enjoying the goodness and beauty of life;

and allowing yourself

to dream again,

take that first step forward and upward

without turning back except

for ensuring that

every burden was laid,

and every lesson was learned.

Well done, Melody. Very positive and thoughtful. I particularly like the last four lines: ‘without turning back except for ensuring that every burden was laid, every lesson learned.’

Excellent advice, and words to live by.
