Suffering a case of the “blues”.

As I sit here pondering the complexities of the human race,
Looking at the rat-race of the human population,
I look at life objectively and stare it in the face,
Working 9 -5 which is really 7 am – 9 pm and masses of pollution.

Noisy trams, rattling trains, diesel belching busses,
Road rage, passenger rage, violence and abuse,
Everywhere I look, couriers, deliveries, everyone rushes,
Jaywalking, trucks running red lights and all to what use?

Taking Valium for stress and antibiotics for flu,
Uppers, downers, inner’s, outer’s, crystal ice and meth,
Rushing home to binge drink, then start sniffing glue,
All of my friends and family rallied there at the untimely time of my death.

Floating, floating softly, high above the earth,
Take the time to look around. Was it really worth the stress?
You have no earthly possessions you have worked for since your birth,
Lived by the clock with moves and counter-moves, life like a game of chess.

People you thought to be friends laughing behind closed eyes, joking in voices low,
“It was way too soon”, “Before his time” Platitudes and sympathies, murmured under breath,
It all seemed too hard at the time, and oh so long ago,
Please live life with honour, there really is no dignity in death.

Sinking, sinking gently, slowly closing in on the coffin, getting most annoyed,
I’m slipping into my stressed, broken-down, tired, worn-out body that’s had enough,
I suddenly sit up and yell “Why the hell are they playing Chopin? I ordered Pink Floyd!!!”,
Shock, horror and disbelief fills the church, the priest storms off in a terrible huff.

Now I live my life to a different tune, I don’t have need to live life by the clock,
I have my slice of paradise, just my dogs and me, with no-one else around,
Three horses, some chickens, some trees and a great big dam on my block,
The noisy sounds of quiet are the only noises present, all my wildlife sounds.
