The Iraq war and the future of the world we live in.
Furious storms thrash about in once azure skies
Now twisted, black, and dead
Lightening crashes to barren fields
Scorching the earth scarring it forever
Smokes rise from factories of hate and loathing
Sickening the air, turning it sour
While the beasts and birds of earth and sky
Flea to find shelter from the coming storms
Their once peaceful and prosperous earth
Holds no refuge for the innocent
Turbulent times rage all around us
A tormented sea of hate and anguish
Catching us in a tempest of contempt
A war of man against man
Brother against brother
The perverse views of man cast a shadow on the world
Thrusting us into a dismally endless chasm
Out of which there is no hope for redemption
Or retribution
Politics and religion cover our eyes
Giving false need to destroy ourselves
Those of us
Looking in the opposite direction
For answers and truths
That we ourselves know nothing about
Poisoned bombs fall from deathly ill skies
Transporting vile death and orange red flame in their wake
Destroying peaceful lives and innocent souls
Who merely wish for quarreling to cease and subside
As quakes and shudders
pierce though battle scarred earth
Threatening to tear the world apart
At the dripping blood drenched seams
Carcasses of long dead soldiers left to rot in the sun
Litter the barren disconsolate earth
Feeding the lustful hunger for flesh
The flesh the vultures that circle above crave
Humanity has paid the ultimate price for their blood war
Which now stands colossal over the price that began it
The pointless feud and loss of life
The price of one hundred dollars a barrel
