About a pre-human creature reeking mayhem in our time.
Reflexion of life
Loping through the dark gardens,
Searching for live prey.
The creature is a throwback
To a nightmare time,
In the distant past.
A tired old man
Wandering through the gardens,
Sees the night creature.
At first the man thinks
That he must have gone insane,
So he continues onward.
The old man had sought
A place where he could sleep,
Now he sleeps eternal.
Deeper in the park
A woman lies on the grass,
Beside her lover.
The creature moves near
Stalking after the lovers,
But the couple turn.
The woman takes flight
To save herself from the fiend,
And her young man dies.
Next day the woman
Tells of the fiend that she saw,
Yet no one believes her.
Then later that day
The man’s body is found,
So a manhunt begins.
That night another life
Is lost to the creature,
And for many nights more.
The National Guard is sent
To scour through the park,
But without any success.
The creature has gone
He flew the coop just in time,
And never is caught.
