What we never appreciate in everyday life…Stop, busy commuters, for one day. Just appreciate what you have, instead of what you don’t. Because your originally rushed day could be a lot better by doing so.

Wind whistles through the cities of Chicago

Placing smiles upon a dandelion growing through the cracks of concrete

It is home to the dandelion, its yellow face grinning

It does not mind, it does not even mind as the massive darkness descends upon it

It is smooshed by a shoe, a rushed commuter trying to catch a bus

But it does not mind.  It just smiles as it is blown in the wind.

nice poem. i liked how you meld the windy city of Chicago with a dandelion and busy commuters and the thought that you put into the poem and the description.

    Keep up the good work,

Poor little dandelion. I’ve always loved their rich, yellow color… but I guess they are usually ignored, or removed from lawns, or smooshed when they emerge from cracks in the sidewalk.

    Nice piece!!

I love this, especially how you juxtapose the dandelion with the city, the harshness of a rushed commuter. A real gift, here.
