We decide how each creature, be it human or animal, ought to behave. The society lays down the rules. What if we don’t comply?
Casteism, racism, sexism and all other "ism"s begin with these norms of the society.

A saw a little bird today,

By the window she sat and sang,

Ah! That’s so lovely,

Do you tell me?

Well, no one around me thought so,

Had it been a nightingale,

Or a cuckoo, maybe,

They would have sat back and enjoyed.

This was just a crow, you see?

It was not allowed to sing.

Whether it wanted, it did not matter,

It just had a different destiny.

If it rebelled, and tried to sing,

She would not just face a challenge,

She would have to face pebbles and stones,

And a million frowns.

If she would still persist,

A cat or dog would assist the humans

In bringing about her demise.

She was just a crow, you see,

Meant to eat rotting, stinking flesh,

It was not her right to sing.

Oh I did like that. I know what you mean. The crow doesn’t have the best of voices but why shouldn’t it sing?

Vim, nice poem; loved it. You have so smoothly portrayed the frustrations caused by a society that lays its rigid and insensitive rules.

Vim! This is your best work so far. I LOVE IT !I love the way you switch from “it” to “she” to show the transition from an object to something with personality.
