A poem about the homecoming dance.

The Dance

The music blares,

The crowd goes wild,

We start to dance,

I feel the connection.

We’d met before,

But never like this,

On a crazy dance-floor,

After the homecoming game.

We’re not really touching,

Though we’re very close,

I for your hands

To rest on my back.

Jumping to the rhythm

Of the song,

We both laugh,

But keep on dancing.

But before the

Slow song,

You had to leave,

Leaving me all alone.

I don’t know

When or why or how

Our next meeting will go,

But it’s there we’ll find true love.
