A in depth poem about the feelings when a Down Syndrome child is born.
I never really knew what love was until i met you, i remember the day clear as a bell August 31, 1998.
When mom brought you home i didnt know what to think, her eyes were red from crying and she said you would never be normal, i didnt understand what she meant. I’m glad i didnt because she was wrong and you were as normal as me!
Mom didnt know what the doctor meant by Down Syndrome, but she thought it couldnt be good, well know she knows it couldn’t be better. Dont get me wrong we still wanted and loved you but i love you more now than i ever did before.
I asked God why you talked funny, he never answered me but i knew why, you talked funny because you were different, just the same as every one else. We are so different and its easy to see, but you’ll never find a stronger bond than the one between you and me.
Amy, you inspire me to live and love, you’ve shone me that theres always time for love and fun and friendship is infinate. I know know what i didnt know before, Love is Unconditional…..
