A poem about the day I took my very first driving test – one of three as it turned out.
The day I took my test was a nervous day for me
I could not start the car because I had lost it you see
I laughed and said how silly, how nervous I must be
To misplace such large an item when then I spotted it near a tree
The examiner wore black and was all of 6ft tall
He frightened me so much that I began to lose control
He sat with anticipation but he didn’t look too pleased
With the car being so small there was not much room for knees
when finally I moved off I tried to feel so calm
But my heart was thumping wildly and the sweat rolled down my arm
I drove through a No-Entry but that was not too bad
It was when I reversed onto the path that I began to feel quite sad
So I am sure you know the outcome and even though I tried my best
And although it was not easy, I managed to fail my test
You will be astounded to know that I actually did pass my driving test on the 3rd attempt and the poem above was written as an acurate description of my very first driving test taken nearly 20 years ago.
