This is a continuation of the article I wrote entitled ,"The Day My World Changed".

I previously wrote a poem entitled, ‘The Day My World Changed.’ This is a continuation of what happened afterwards…

The night is so cold,

I’ve no warm coat to wear.

My fingers are frigid,

Does anyone even care?

My feet feel like ice,

From the holes in my shoes.

What else could go wrong?

Nothing… I already lose.

I’m so lost and alone,

I don’t know where to go.

So, up and down the sidewalk,

I walk to and fro.

I go past a building,

A man’s standing there,

With a look on his face,

Of a puzzled kind of stare.

I start to walk faster,

And even start to run.

Will he also come after me?

Perhaps he’s got a gun?

I heard him yell out,

From a distance, “You ok?”

But I kept on running,

I just wanted to get away.

From what had just happened,

To me down the street.

I wasn’t about to have,

Another ‘taste of concrete’.

I ran and I ran,

And I ran even more.

‘Til my legs were all shaky,

Even more than before.

I then had to stop,

I was losing my breath.

I started to think,

Is this worse, or death?

My thoughts go in every,

Which way and direction.

Even being back home,

Thou there’s no love or affection.

At least being there,

I’ve a roof o’er my head.

And some food and a shower,

And to sleep in my bed.

I then found a doorway,

In which I could sit.

To rest for awhile,

Even just for a bit.

As I sat and watched,

As the cars drove on by,

I thought and I wondered,

Do you see me cry?

To my amazement,

And utter surprise,

There was one that stopped,

For they did hear my cries.

My head was bent,

And I didn’t see,

They got out of the car,

And walked over to me.

A tap on my shoulder,

My heart skipped a beat!

I felt full of fear,

And I jumped to my feet!

It was then that I realized,

It’s someone I know.

They helped me to my feet,

And in the car I did go.

My problems weren’t over,

They were still dark and grey,

For this was the person,

Who helped me run away.

To be continued….
