Today is the The Day of the African Child. It is one significant day for the African child that is Observed through out the African continent. But being the African Child has for the last 200 years never been a bed of roses.

The African Child

Wrapped up in abject poverty

Fighting adversity naturally

With bare tender hands

And an empty rambling stomach

Suffering gruesome injustice along the way

Like their own ancestors did in the dark ages

___

The African Child

Homeless in their own city state

Targets of police brutality day and night

Used and exploited by men

Who should be protecting them

Trafficked away into modern day slavery

Their fate sealed in their humble childhood

The Pain of being the African child has just began

A sad state of affairs that will hopefully, prayerfully, be brought to an end.
