The Villanelle is a classic French poem, like a sonnet, and has 19 lines, five tercets, and one final quatrain. The most famous example is "Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night" by Dylan Thomas. It has two refrains, and lots of repetition. Also, an extremely strict rhyme scheme. Read more at Poets.org.
The birds rise up to greet the day,
Sun shines on wet green grass.
But they only think of yesterday.
The squirrels a’dashing, they frolic and play
Under the sky of crystal pure glass.
But they only think of yesterday.
Clouds sparkling a silvery wisping gray
Make tow’ring trees a bit flat
But they only think of yesterday.
Spring looks like it’s here to stay
But they only drive past
While birds rise up to greet the day
It’s the beautifully springly May
But they still go by too fast
So they only think of yesterday.
Warmed under the golden sun’s rays,
And across the lake the ducklings splash,
The birds rise up to greet the day,
But they only think of yesterday.
