A major winter storm is pounding across the majority of the United States. The wind is beating against my windows and sounds like they are going to break soon. I do hope we don’t get the snow that is predicted.

“The Devil Wind is coming,”
The rolling thunder rumbled
“Protect your life and precious children
Take cover, take cover NOW!”
Suddenly the sky changed to black
The wind blew hard
The lightening flashed a warning
The Devil Wind is coming
I grabbed my children and ran for shelter
The Devil Wind came roaring
“GIVE IT ALL TO ME
I WANT IT ALL!”
The Devil Wind blew its decree
The lightening bolts crashed all around
The rain hammered and beat everything down
The Devil Wind cut a path and demanded
“GIVE IT ALL TO ME!”
No living creature can survive against the Devil Wind
It took the animals large and small
And the water from the lake
The fields ready to harvest could not withstand
The Devil Wind
The mighty oak rustled its leaves
And gave the answer,
“NO!”
It swayed it cracked
It fought back
Trees all around joined the fight
I heard them scream
“NO! NO! NO!”
Like soldiers in God’s Army the trees stood alone
Fighting against the Devil Wind
They swayed and cracked
But stood their ground
The leaves rustled their fierce reply
“NO! NO! NO!”
When at last the Devil Wind was gone
And from the shelter we emerged
Our lives lay in ruined devastation
The Devil Wind had taken it all
The mighty oak its battle lost
Lay like shards of broken glass
Scattered upon the ground
Centuries old it had passed this test
Many times before
Some people say the Devil
Dwells in the hearts of men.
I have met the Devil
He is blowing in the wind
You cannot stand against the Devil Wind
When it roars across the land
Pay attention when it makes its command
“GIVE IT TO ME I WANT IT ALL!
I AM THE DEVIL WIND!”
