A Black epic, playing on Martin Luther King’s famous speech "I Have a Dream"
The Dream Comes Through
J. Malcolm-Evans
BLK Jr. had a dream…
Of freedom and equality for every man and race
For peace and love and unity throughout time and space
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
Many did not see it…
The thought of liberty and sameness was their mind-blot
The way to accept “all men were created equal” they found not
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
Much more were scared stiff…
What would my life, my advantage, my benefits be
If everyone had my power and were just the same as me
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
Who would I dominate, negate…
The Niggers, the Poor, the Jews, people to abuse
God, the heavenly Father, denies them, obviously they’re ours to refuse
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
Bandits rallied for their cause…
Fighting to squash the peaceful gospel of liberty’s plan
Terrorists were they, indiscriminately destroying both woman and man
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
Ku Klux Klan, brutish band…
Without worthwhile, honourable, constructively civil cause to defend
Night Roamers, cloaked in black from head to toe, fully destroyed innocent men
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
Public leaders applied subtle deceptions…
“Divide and conquer” was the doctrinal seed of mistrust
Bringing forth bountiful harvests of evil deeds: divisions, discord and dire lust
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
But others had eagles’ eyes…
Souls in whom the far-off vision refused to die
Resisting in spirit and body, their moans, groans to God did fly
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
The humane cause kept alive…
Through valleys, over mountains, across oceans, upon plains
On animals’ backs, by weary feet, flying planes, on ships and trains
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
The “impossible” dream lives on…
Today, time’s changing quicker than the blink of the eye
The proof is in; this eternal revelation from above can never die
In each and every community, city, country, continent.
The revolutionary lineage of “Obamas” is born
Finally, it’s realized the dream is real… true
The dream has come through!
