How slowly life ebbs out of a home and a person. My Grandmother suffered a stroke and is paralyzed.

It was the living room,

the focus of all the members of the house

the TV was there and sometimes the laptop

at least four people were to be found

playing games or laughing and talking

in that room at any given time.

Then something left the room

it did not go suddenly

it left slowly and steadily

one inch at a time…it was life.

Life left the living room

and it became the dying room.

On a bed in the middle of the room

she lay and wondered

where did life go?

Yes there still were at least

four people in the room,

but they were not living.

They were not dead either,

they were in limbo.

Waiting for the imminent death in their midst

to come to pass so they

could go back to living

a semblance of the normal life.

You made me go cold inside reading this. You have set such a scary atmosphere. Wonderful.

Thank you everyone. I have not been inside that room, as I am in a different city, but I call and speak with everyone in the dying room at least once a day, so I felt I knew what i was talking about.
