Farewell to my summer garden of home-grown vegetables.
Summer has almost gone,
taking with it that wonderful supply
of fresh home-grown vegetables,
on which we came to rely.
A few green beans still dangle
enough for a meal no doubt,

the birds have their eyes on the grapes
if we’re not quick we’ll go without.

The lettuce and parsley have served us,
providing us with meals of health,

mixed with the bright red tomatoes
of nutrients there’s been a wealth.

But sadly it’s now almost over,
the best of the garden has gone,
But over the fence from the neighbours
the passionfruit and feijoas come on.
