A rose must retain its respectability
So must a worthy character;
A dog by any other name is still a dog –
Never disloyal, nor a distractor.

Poem:

A rose must retain its respectability

So must a worthy character;

A dog by any other name is still a dog –

Never disloyal, nor a  distractor.

A dictator or despot, one and the same–

An enforcer, a murderer and a hater;

Call an alligator another name

It shall still be the same feared alligator

A tight-fitting garment fits no tighter;

A pugilist or boxer is still a fighter.

Genuine love keeps embracing its creed,

Rubs off, indeed, on people’s need;

Peace and harmony may not be far

From altering direction, close to war;

Nature’s seasons are distinctly apart,

So are functions of soul, spirit, and heart.

Comfort and pain, banners unfurled,

Belong in the same, old, common world;

Birds must sing to welcome the spring

Freely nesting; free on the wing.

Some things change color and worth,

Not those inherently true to birth.
