A short poem about the feudal system.
Europe, ’twas ruled with the feudal system,
back in the past, called Medieval,in it, there was much upheaval.
The feudal hierarchy wasn’t always fair,
peasants in the fields and lords in their lairs.
You could be punished for the look on your face,
the knights and nobles would put you in your place.
The city of Rome was once a prosperous place,
But all such beauty was lost without a trace.
A young lad, Gregory, was born into this depression,
he looked upon it all with a serious expression.
He devoted his life to God, from his monastery home,
Eventually he ascended to the papal throne.
If you encounter the Black Death, be wary of your fate,
It even was able to kill Gregory the Great.
The Moslems rose their religious banner,
only to be stopped by Charles the Hammer.
Charlemange took over most of the lands,
all the way from Aquitaine to Saxony.
But, after his death, his empire was broken apart,
however, the east and west sides provided a new start.Wonders and discovery had come from the east, lots of treasures and spices, to state the least.People created ideas and inventions, art too,This marks the start of the Renaissance. I’ll be seeing you!
