wander hollow, wasted
witness my decline
this universe of pain consumes
everything but time

seconds stretch to hours
to days to months to years
this desolated wasteland
won’t be watered by my tears

invisible reality
the cost of my denial
nothing here worth seeing now
and never a reprisal

awaken, once upon a time
as stricken eyes alight
upon a tender bloom of hope
untouched by your foul blight

you, seeing eyes begin to shine
my head, your hands – a vice
ensure I watch it sicken
wither, wretched as it dies

neglected days spent harvesting
unlikely broken dreams
press them into memory books
tight against the seams

hidden hope that someday
though crushed and dessicated
tawdry seeds of shattered dreams
somehow be vindicated

languish in these moments
tick tock the clock – molasses
smothering misery isolates
and time never passes

fondle faded flowers now
sweet bleeding memories
taste their tragic vanquished scent
evanescent, fleeting breeze

hope dies hard, it hollows
all I thought I was
destroy me love I always was
martyred to your cause

horizon meet bleak outlook
pleading warmer sun to rise
shine rays of gentle love upon
a heart long drowned in lies

stilled minutes hold the hours back
crushed dreams in time suspend
clutching at the dead bouquet
of all I could have been
