This poem has been composed with the inspiration of The Traveller’s youngest son who wants to know something about the first Christmas. This article would try to show the faithfulness of Mary to her commitment and the humility showed by Jesus, the King of kings, as he was laid at the animals den.
There was a story told long ago
About the woman that God has wooed
To become the Mother of His only Son
Who would bear the guilt that the world had made
And would break the chain of the humans sin
The wind was cold, the night was deep
People were busy, the inns were filled
The doors were closed, they couldn’t get in
The chosen Virgin was then aching
The King of kings got no place to be laid in
So there they went to an enclosed pen
Where animals were kept warm and mean
In the midst of dirt and foul beasts smell
Among the animals and shepherds
The Savior of mankind was to be delivered
Not far away three magis were looking
For a boy, a child whom the prophets were telling
They were following a bright starlight
Leading them to the One Eternal light
That would shine and take the darkness out
And so, in that particular special day
In humility… the King, the Savior was laid on hay
With angels singing and shepherds dancing
Rejoicing because the Emmanuel had been seen
And that’s the story of the first Christmas day.
