The Forgotten Seed a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. Poems on emotion. Poem of Sorrow. Poems for the soul.
The Forgotten Seed
Remember me?
The seed that you forgot
to sow?
I have been crying out to you.
You soaked me
along with the other lupines.
You nicked me so I would
grow and prosper.
And I soaked up the water
and you forgot me.
I’ve been weeping
for a long time.
I wanted to be that
beautiful flower that
you would someday pick.
Guess where I am?
You threw me into the
darkness of the trash can.
You didn’t plant me.
I’m angry, wasted and gone.
Yet, I could have been devine,
powerful and lovingly planted.
If only you had tried.
Wasted, filled with sorrow
like that girl
that weeps for her unrequited love.
She and I are alike,
we’ve been cast away
and our hearts are empty.
Simply gone, in limbo
and we will never grow.
You tossed me away,
left to die
in a dark, grungy plastic bag.
And I could have been awesome.
Your loss.
