Friendship is God-given,

A gift for you and me,

And if we use it wisely,

What a treasure it can be!

If we can speak to someone

Who needs a word of cheer

Or offer loving comfort

To someone far or near…

Then we follow in His footsteps

And find the welcome grace

That comes when with a gesture

We can easily erase

Someone’s care and sorrow

That unhappiness imparts,

And our lives will be much richer

When we freely give our hearts.
