A poem about a girl who feels lost.

Cutting, drugs, and alcohol,

can stop a girl from thinking she lost it all.

As she sits here being told “you’re insane”,

getting high seems to take away her pain.

That one blade was her favorite tool,

after a long day of pressure at school.

After 3 bottles of that bitter drink,

she makes her way to the bathroom sink.

Throwing up and passing out,

she knows is the only way out.

People say “Oh, she’s okay”,

But she’s one step closer to death each and every day.

Scary, terrorizing thoughts fill her head.

The thoughts of anxiety, depression, and ending up dead.

That’s when she takes another pill, shot, and cut in that order,

She feels her heart getting colder and colder.

Love, joy, and hapiness don’t exist,

in her mind it’s just society playing tricks.

Your poem raises a very important issue, young people need to feel needed and need support in discovering their purpose in life, but way too often they don’t get that. Parents and society are failing too many of them…especially young women.
