The Golden Wire a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A love poem. Poems for the soul. Poems on emotion.

The Golden Wire

Have you heard of the golden wire?

It is a piece of wire

that is a boundary of love.

The wire hits you when

you come too close and

lets you know when you

have overstepped your bounds.

The golden wire sometimes makes

you bleed.  It cuts you and tears

you to shreds

because you didn’t listen to

the limits of love.

The golden wire is a constant reminder

of the way that your life

will be led.

It’s the invisible tightrope

that you walk upon everyday.

And sometimes you fall off

without knowing.

Or you are barely hanging

from your golden wire

and you are trying to understand

your love.

And the golden wire,

if treated with care

will guide you along

to your pursuit of happiness.
