Don’t ask don’t tell affects more than the military. The church is hurting for answers as well. With well known and unknown pastors getting caught up in biblical situations, why are we so quick to judge? Peoples’ dogmatic veiw of the bible causes them to pick up a cross and burn it with condemenation. I thank those that save those from a burning hell, but who saves us from them? Let’s show love to the sinner. Even if the sinner is a Pastor.

Masquerade

Night is a canvas

that allows us to see who we really are

We use the colors of day

   to deceive prying eyes

But darkness is our true reflection

The light of day, a masquerade.

Heaven and Hell

Where is heaven?

Is it somewhere amongst the specks of light

Projected on the night sky?

Is hell a place?

A void that can’t be filled with souls

Maybe heaven is empty

And each second we have

   is meant for an eternity

What if all we believe is backwards

and instead of looking for heaven in the sky

It is someplace more inward

Instead of fearing hell

we should cast it from our midst.

I wonder if

I wonder if the questions we seek

should be answered in black and white?

Life is a masquerade balanced between dark and light.

There are a lot of insights and wisdom in these words. I enjoyed these poems.

There is not one of us who is fit to judge. I have always been taught that the Bible is meant for ME personally; to show ME the way to go, and not for me to use as a weapon against others.

I love the image of the masquerade… very deep poem and great choice of language.

Your thoughts reflect some really deep questions and yet you answer them within this great piece. Very well penned!

A profound and insightful piece. Humans are judgmental – the nature of the beast.

I totally agree with your last line that: Life is a masquerade balanced between dark and light.

I disagree with the sentiment, however it is impossible to deny your talent as a writer and this as all of your work is a testament to that fact.
