Even as part of the animal kingdom, human beings stand alone in our ability to reason. Yet we humans also have the tendency to use our abilities in a self-debilitating way.

How is it that

God

created us

to be

the only creature

that cannot act

on instinct alone?

Rather

we rationalize

our situations ~

usually

coming out worse

for having

thought about it.

That’s one way of looking into it. Human intelligence has, on the other hand, made our life much easier than it used to be in the beginning.

Instincts can be wrong too, we were given the abilty to try to make the right choice, but sometimes we still do make the wrong choice, but for the most part we usually come up with some good ideas, options that werent there before can be because we were also made to be creative.

Thanks for all the comments. At the time I wrote this one I was living with someone who always over-rationalized every thought, every action, every word in order to create his own version of the world around him. In his case, it wasn’t a good version.

I do agree that there’s a positive side to man’s ability to think things out. It just wasn’t evident in his life. :)
