Resilient Heart.

The last time I saw him, he made me cry,

He pushed me down and blacked my eye,

He pulled my hair and broke my wrist,

Bruised the face, that once he kissed.

Its long done now, well in the past,

And bruises fade, they do not last,

At least those that appear on skin,

What lasts longest are the scars within,

But things are better now, I am past the pain,

And I  believe in love again,

That is my greatest triumph you see,

He broke my heart, but he didn’t break me.

Love is like a pyramid; you give your love all of it except for the tip which no one ever gets.

    How true, Leonardo!
Except perhaps I think the loved one gets everything from the tip on down, until just above the base. That base, the foundation, is what keeps people grounded and helps them survive through trouble and pain.
