Poem.

The idle dreamer
To the idle dreamer who thinks money earns itself.
To The reclining writer who wants books leaping off the shelf.
A thousand hours of chewing pens
and wondering what to do,
hoping if you sit there long enough
a book will come to you.
I’m sorry to shatter your illusion
Maybe writing’s not for you.
The hard working enthusiast
knows writing’s not all fun.
Edit, proof read and promote,
that’s how he gets things done.
Blood and sweat and many tears
(and going round the bend)
from eighteen revised manuscripts.
He’ll get there in the end.
He deserves his Technicolor dream book,
burning the candle at both ends.
From sore red eyes and sleepless nights
and help from Triond friends.
So if you think it would be nice
to be a celebrity
and write a score of children’s books
to feature on TV,
remember the life of authors
is not all it’s cut out to be.
