Dedicated to all who fought for the freedom and liberation of a people.

The journey to freedom is so dark and bitter
It’s a narrow road full of thorns
Darkness conceals men with daggers
In their hearts hatred burns
But if you doubt me the story teller
Then enquire of the heroes in this letter

Over the years patriots fought
We fought for what we believe in
Freedom
The right to live in peace
The right to possess that which is rightfully ours
The right to life
For these countless lamps were extinguished
While traitors sold their souls
Into the paws of freedom’s foes

The journey to freedom is so dark and bitter
It’s a narrow road full of thorns
Darkness conceals men with daggers
In their hearts hatred burns
But if you doubt me the story teller
Then enquire of Willem Wallace

Prejudice and greed
Makes a man ugly
This I’ve come to realize
For he’ll stop at nothing
To reap where he sowed no seed
Even unleash terror and demise

The journey to freedom is so dark and bitter
It’s a narrow road full of thorns
Darkness conceals men with daggers
In their hearts hatred burns
But if you doubt me the story teller
Then enquire of Omar Muctar

The heart of man can device untold evils
He becomes judge
He becomes god.
Perceived as the descendants of Ham
To ebony he causes great harm
Seize our lands
Murder our price bull
And set ablaze our sumptuous bane
He becomes god
He becomes judge
Puts all in shackles
We tread not papa’s land without a pass
At sun set we hug shadows like frightened rats

The journey to freedom is so dark and bitter
It’s a narrow road full of thorns
Darkness conceals men with daggers
In their hearts hatred burns
But if you doubt me the story teller
Then enquire of Nelson Mandela

Any land in the clutches of Junta
Will experience the opposite of laughter
‘Cause khaki will never cease to slaughter
The illustrious sons of our virtuous mother

O the journey to freedom is so dark and bitter
It’s a narrow road full of thorns
Darkness conceals men with daggers
In their hearts hatred burns
But if you doubt me the story teller
Then enquire of Ken Saro Wiwa.
