After a restless night I decided to take an early morning walk. It was beautiful out there.

I woke to a sky of the brightest blue

Calling me to the great outside,

And so I set off in the early morning light

With a joyful feel to my stride.

The harbour was a stunning sight

With boats of all types on display.

The water lapping gently against them

Reflected the beauties of this lovely day.

Along to the lock, rather quiet today

After the bustle of a busy weekend,

When yachts racing out on the ocean

With a big regatta had to contend.

The lifeboat bobbed gently on the water,

Welcoming the few hours of rest.

With no emergencies to call it out

To take part in any rescue quest.

I continued my walk to the sea front

And not a soul on the beach did I see.

Only seagulls playing noisily,

So happy that they were quite free.

As I passed the beautiful fountains

The jets dampened the air around,

And I chuckled as I dodged the wetness

Of the spray falling to the ground.

It was a wonderful way to see the dawn in

Before beginning the work of the day,

And I felt at that moment so privileged

To live in this beautiful Eastbourne Bay.
